Xu Xing and Corwin Sullivan, researchers from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology, University of Linyi in Shandong, reported the discovery of this new type of dinosaur that, besides protoplumas-, had a similar membrane and fingers to Current bats.

This does not mean it is an ancestor of bats, explains Xu Xing, as the family of these animals has been associated more with birds like Archaeopteryx.

“While it appears that had many feathers, they were like filaments and could not have been useful to fly,” says the researcher.
