Official image presented Hubble anniversary – Televisa News

WASHINGTON, USA. 23 Abr. 2015.- NASA announced the official image of the 25th anniversary of the Hubble Telescope released April 24, 1990 aboard the space shuttle Discovery.

This is a brilliant tapestry of young stars that give the impression to form a fireworks display.

“The Hubble has completely transformed our view of the universe, revealing the true beauty and richness of the cosmos,” said John Grunsfeld, astronaut and deputy administrator of the Department of Missions NASA scientists. “This view of the fireworks with stars and glowing gas is an appropriate image for our celebration of 25 years of amazing science Hubble.”

The centerpiece of fireworks is a giant cluster of about 3,000 stars called Westerlund 2, named after the Swedish astronomer Bengt Westerlund who discovered the group in the 1960s raucous stellar broth culture known as Gum 29 is located 20,000 light-years from Earth in the constellation Carina.

The star cluster contains some of the hottest and brightest stars in our galaxy. Some of its stars emit streams of ultraviolet light and winds hydrogen gas of charged particles.

The nebula reveals a fantasy landscape of pillars, ridges and valleys. The pillars of dense gas are believed to be incubators for new stars. Other dense regions around the pillars, including reddish brown filaments of gas and dust.

The central region of the image containing the cluster of stars, combines visible light data taken by the Advanced Camera for Hubble inspections with exhibitions in the near infrared.

The shades of red represent hydrogen and blue-green hues are predominantly oxygen.

On the anniversary of Hubble, NASA performed a variety of events from midnight on April 20 that will run until Sunday April 26.

Each time the dual LED Toshiba Vision Times Square, New York, screens transmit images taken by the space telescope Hubble.

Also, various commemorative events and conferences are held.

The NASA reported that the files des model and 3-D logo commemorating the Hubble are available.

The files can be downloaded and printed using a 3-D printer and assembled into a miniature model of Hubble, for more information please consult the league nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov page.

The Hubble Space Telescope orbits in our atmosphere at 593 kilometers above sea level with an orbital period between 96 and 97 minutes. It was named in honor of Edwin Hubble, one of the most important American astronomers of the twentieth century, considered the father of observational cosmology.
