Malecón of Havana will have wifi – The Day online

Havana. The emblematic promenade of Havana, popularly known as the Malecon, will have before the end of the year wifi Internet connection, today reported official media.

The state company Etecsa announced that it is planned the activation of the service from the Prado to the tunnel of Fifth Avenue, covering a distance of eight kilometres from a small wall that protects the city from the sea.

The space is one of the most popular places for international tourism, and was chosen for its high influx of people, especially young people”.

The phone company has already identified the places where you will be offered the service, although the start of operations will depend on the assembly, it “will be complex due to the extension of the promenade most famous of Cuba.”

The new wireless access points to the Internet in this boardwalk will join the 200 already operating across the country and have a fare of two dollars per hour. From 2015, the cuban authorities have encouraged areas of wireless Internet located mainly in public parks across the country, where daily connect 250 thousand users by using coupons for recharge.
