Facebook warns users of possible “hackers” backed by governments – La Jornada (Bolivia)

The social network Facebook will notify users if it has “strong suspicions” that their accounts may have been interfered with “by actors backed by governments,” said Alex Stamos, chief security officer of the company.

The notice, which appears when the user wants to access the network, give notice to the following sentence: “we believe your Facebook account and other Internet can be the target of a cyberattack by actors backed by governments. ”

Stamos said in a Facebook blog Security to see if the message is advisable to start the “approval access” option that sends a new security code must be entered each time you want to access account from a new device or browser. “We decided to show this further notice if we have the strong suspicion that an attack may have been initiated by a government. We do this because we believe that such attacks tend to be more advanced and dangerous than others,” the security chief Facebook . The social network, which has already registered more than 1,000 million active users worldwide, did not give further details about such attacks or if specifically specify what government is behind them.
