WhatsApp dethrones Skype calls – El Deber

WhatsApp went from implementing most popular instant messaging in the world to the main application to call via the Internet , according to the Household Panel prepared by the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC).

According to the study, WhatsApp has dethroned Skype. The third most used service for voice over IP (Internet Protocol) is Facebook Messenger (10% of Internet users ), and almost all other minimum percentages. Apple Facetime (2.3%), Google Hangout (2.1%), Line (2%) and Viber (1%).

Overall, 47.3% of regular Internet users already do calls consuming data instead of voice minutes, thanks to the Internet.

Considering only users who make calls over the Internet, the domain of WhatsApp is seen even clearer now that 71% of consumers prefer this application to any other.

Leadership WhatsApp messaging seems not see threats on the horizon, since 84.6% of Internet users use it , followed by Facebook Messenger (25.2%) and Skype ( 8.1%), although in this case, respondents report using various applications.
