Amazon closes purchase Twitch.tv 735 million – The World

The online store Amazon has officially announced tonight buying Twitch.tv , the popular video game website in real time, for 970 million dollars (735 million euros).

“We hope to learn from them and help them move even faster to create new services for the community of gamers,” said Jeff Bezos , CEO of Amazon, said in a statement.

For his part, Minister of Twitch, Emmett Shear, said, “With the support of Amazon have the resources to provide even better Twitch.”

Both Google , which was about to close its purchase a few weeks ago, like Yahoo and had expressed interest in online gaming website live.

Twitch, launched in 2011, is the leading internet place to view and broadcast games live, and has about 50 million unique visitors per month.

It will be defined as a ‘YouTube’ specializing in video games . The user upload their videos that show their skills with different games to the platform for others to see how they play-usually are people who play ‘very well’, including professional players who have become ‘stars are ‘the mundillo-. There are also programs in which we talk about video games. Videos can be both live and archived that can be played at any time, reports Joseph A. Navas

The company generates revenue through advertisers and subscriptions consumers who pay for online gaming.

With this acquisition, Amazon advancing plans extend the range of broadcasting content online , and compete with other companies industry as Netflix or Hulu.
