NASA rocket launch to reach deep space in 2018 – Reuters

MADRID (IRIN). The NASA announced Thursday it will launch its “powerful” Rocket to reach the Deep Space 2018 . This project, which is officially called Space Launch System (SLS), has been in development for three years and its mission will propel the spacecraft beyond the Earth orbit and launch vehicle crew to Mars from 2030.

NASA has completed a thorough review of the project, which has cost more than 7,000 million. It is carrying out a slow production process of this rocket because SLS is the first launch vehicle NASA burden over 40 years, the space agency does not want to make any mistakes. The SLS “provide unprecedented lift capacity of 130 metric tons,” said NASA.

Similarly, explained that the engine is capable of generating about 133,000 pounds of thrust to lift a spacecraft in low Earth orbit or 101,000 pounds to propel one into deep space, outside the Earth’s orbit. In turn, the J-2X engine using liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen as fuel, is designed to be started and restarted in space.
