novelty, released by Android Police, was accompanied by images of three screens of a Nexus 4 running Android 5.0.1 supplied by an informant, in which the intelligent configuration panel lock on the new function listed is shown body detection, plus a brief description of how this works.

Basically, On-Body uses your accelerometer to determine if the device is being carried by a person, whether it is in your hand or pocket, making the phone is unlocked to permit its use. Conversely, if the sensor detects that it has been left somewhere without making physical contact with the body of the user, the system will interpret the owner’s smartphone and leads do not get it, so it shall be blocked immediately to prevent that potential thieves can access your personal data.

Once your phone is unlocked, it will remain open while it is holding or moving it in your pocket, purse or bag, and it locks again once you stop it, for example, on a table.

To disable smart lock On-Body , the owner of the device must resort to manual release or intelligent authentication system available in the same, as the fingerprint reader or function of face recognition, among others.

Now if the user moves the smartphone to another person while it is unlocked and since the function is not able to recognize the carrier, the device will remain open while still carrying in your hand, pocket or bag

Unlock by body detection On-Body. For devices with Android 5.0+

As mentioned earlier, the device in which the activation panel On-Body was detected is a Nexus 4 with Android 5.0.1, but in reporting Android Police indicated that was seen on other devices, including most members of the Nexus family.

It was also noted that, apparently, the lock / unlock not be a characteristic related Lollipop Android 5.1, the latest operating system from Google, although it would require editing smartphones operating on 5.0 or rear of the platform.

This is because On-Body not form part of the core of the new Android, but it would probably introduced by the latest version of Google Play Services and automatic update system.
