Battery Problems with iOS 7? Change these settings - The Mundo.es

One of the first

headaches that can come to update the operating system of a ‘smartphone’ is the possibility that the battery does not perform as before. In most cases this may be due to new features introduced with the changes, which can be turned off in your phone settings.

Here are some tips to optimize the battery in iOS 7, the update that Apple introduced the iPhone a few weeks ago.

1. Check the Bluetooth

There is, of course, a new feature but when you upgrade your phone, the Bluetooth wireless connection is enabled by default. Several iPhone and iPad users who have come to wonder how they could improve battery performance in recent weeks had not realized that they operate this connection, that drains reserves very quickly. In ‘Settings> Bluetooth’ can change the settings.

2. Updates in the background

is a novelty that brings iOS 7 and which is also activated by default when you install the new system. This feature allows you to update your content although some do not have them open when the phone is connected to the Wi Fi or mobile. It is, for example, what happens with applications like Time or the Stock Exchange. According to ‘Mashable’ is the main cause of battery problems on refresh. In ‘Settings> General> Update in the background’ can completely disable this feature or only for those applications that do not need to be refreshed automatically.

3. Reduce background movement

Among the many changes that Apple design chief, Johnny Ive, has realized iOS is the “parallax effect”, animations and motion effect wallpaper behind the icons for applications, which also causes more drain on the battery. To disable it, go to ‘Settings> Accessibility> Zoom movement’.

4. Lower the screen brightness

is one of the main functions that must be controlled to achieve good battery optimization, not just the iPhone or iPad but any electronic device, because the screen is the main ‘quemabatería’ gadgets. To adjust can be done both from the control panel-sliding a finger up the bottom of the screen, as in ‘Settings> Wallpaper and shine’.

5. Automatic downloads

One of the features I found most useful among the new features of iOS 7 is the ability to automatically update applications without having to enter the App Store. However, this function can also lead to additional spending on the battery. To turn it off you have to go to ‘Settings> iTunes Store and App Store’.

6. Applications with location

Many applications use services localizations, like the Chamber, Facebook, Twitter or Google. Besides the privacy issues that this raises, not all users agree that her movements are recorded, this function also causes additional expense of battery. Like the brightness of the screen, is one of those features that eat battery on any device. In ‘Settings> Privacy> Location’ can completely disable these services or individually for each application that uses them. Keep in mind that if you completely disabled, applications such as ‘Find My iPhone’, which can locate the device if lost, will not work, so it is advisable to disable the apps only where we are not needed.

7. AirDrop

AirDrop is a new feature included in iOS 7 to share files wirelessly between Apple devices connected to the same network. It is useful but not necessary to have it on while not in use, helping to conserve battery. It can be disabled from the control center-sliding your finger upward on the bottom of the screen.

8. Spotlight

Spotlight is the internal search service iOS 7, which can now be accessed from any screen. Being constantly indexing new information can also harm your phone’s battery, as highlighted in Cnet. In ‘Settings> General> Spotlight’ can disable what those categories are not of interest to you when looking for a performance improvement.

9. Notifications ‘push’

with all previous settings are still having problems with the battery, you can try to turn off notifications ‘push’ mail. These are automatically launched when a new message and additional expenditure if done manually. May be useful for those users who do not receive urgent messages by email. It can be set from ‘Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendar’. There can be switched to a test for a certain time interval or manual.
