The sun emits three solar flares in just 48 hours - Mundo.es

The Sun has issued its third solar flare in just 48 hours, as shown in the images captured by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO, for its acronym in English) spacecraft.

Specifically, it is an X2.1-class solar flare. Shortly before another solar flare occurred in this case classified as X1.7 and from the stain called AR 1882. At dawn on Thursday, just 48 hours earlier, there was another eruption M9.3 class of lesser intensity.

NASA

remember that solar flares are powerful bursts of radiation. Although its effects not dangerous for humans , when they are intense enough itself can alter communications systems and interrupt for some time (minutes or hours) radio signals.

However, incidents have hitherto been very uncommon. On occasion, as a precaution, also have diverted some commercial flight routes near the north pole to avoid interference with radio systems.

Today

the Sun is at its peak in its cycle , which astronomers have been established in 11 years to study their evolution. So NASA needs this kind of phenomena are common and increase as it reaches its peak. The first X-class flare that occurred in the present solar cycle occurred in February 2011. The most intense occurred on August 9, 2011 and was classified as X6.9.
