During the fourth quarter of 2014, Apple sold more smartphones than Samsung, which remained as the market leader since 2011.
2014 will be remembered as the year that smartphone sales exceeded the figure of 1,000 million units sold (up to 1.200 million units), but may also be remembered as the year that began the decline of Samsung : during the fourth quarter of last year, Apple sold more smartphones that the South Korean company, thus losing the lead in the market for the first time since 2011, according to Gartner says Portaltic.
Between October and December 2014, a total 367.5 million phones were sold worldwide . Of these, the Cupertino sold nearly 75 million and Samsung 73 million. There is a big difference, but is significant from the moment the market , with Apple pushed to the top by the success of the iPhone 6.
Other manufacturers that have grown during the last quarter are Lenovo, Huawei and Xiaomi, which has more than tripled sales achieved in the same period of 2013 . However, these three companies are still far from the figures of Samsung and Apple.
Taking into account the overall figures from around 2014, Samsung continues to dominate the business , with over 307 million phones sold and a market share of 24.7% .
