Scientists have discovered what genetic mutations in these parasites that allow them to avoid eradication are .

A group of scientists investigating why malaria parasites have developed resistance to the most aggressive treatments said they have identified mutations have made that possible.

In a study published in the journal Nature Genetics, the researchers said that since the 50s, no medication has been able to kill parasites.

They added that immunity has always been acquired first by malaria parasites border between Thailand and Cambodia, before spreading to Africa and elsewhere.

Now scientists have discovered what genetic mutations are in these parasites that allow them to avoid elimination.

They hope that further studies may shed light on how this happens.
