There may be two planets in our Solar System – The Universal

Researchers at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and the University of Cambridge, made astronomical calculations that prove the existence of at least two new planets in our system Sola r.

After observing the strange orbital behavior of trans-Neptunian objects ends ( ETNO , for its acronym in English, object whose orbit lies beyond Neptune ) concluded that it could be invisible forces that are altering the distribution of orbital elements. The most likely explanation is that unknown planets that exist beyond Neptune and Pluto will be.

The researchers, ruled that the case of a object transneptunian , as these should have a half shaft 150 AU (astronomical units or times the distance between Earth and the Sun), a tilt angle almost 0 ° and perihelion (closest point of the orbit our star) near 0 ° or 180 °.

By contrast, the observed objects vary between 150 AU and 525 AU, the average inclination of the orbit is about 20 degrees and angle of perihelion is about -31 °, not a single case close to 180 °.

  Challenges

Carlos de la Fuente Marcos, UCM scientist and co-author acknowledged that there are still greater results to demonstrate that its approach is against current models of the solar system, which ensures that there can be no planets beyond Neptune.

The analysis is based on a sample of 13 objects and is expected in the coming months to make themselves known data with a larger sample.

“If confirmed, our result can it be truly revolutionary in astronomy,” concluded De la Fuente.
