Two new planets in the Solar System – ElTiempo.com

Researchers at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and the University of Cambridge, made astronomical calculations that prove the existence of at least two new planets in our solar system.

After observing the strange orbital behavior of trans-Neptunian objects ends (ETNO, for its acronym in English, object whose orbit lies beyond Neptune) concluded that it could be invisible forces that are altering the distribution of orbital elements. The most likely explanation is that unknown planets that exist beyond Neptune and Pluto are.

The researchers, as published by the agency Sync Spain, ruled question of a trans-Neptunian object, as these must have an axle shaft 150 AU (astronomical units or times the distance between Earth and the Sun), a tilt angle near 0 ° and perihelion (the point of the orbit closest to our star) near 0 ° or 180 °.

By contrast, the observed objects vary between 150 AU and 525 AU, the average inclination of the orbit is near 20 degrees and angle of perihelion is about -31 °, not a single case close to 180.

Challenges

Carlos de la Fuente Marcos, scientist and UCM co-author, recognized in dialogue with Sinc that there are still greater results to demonstrate that its approach is against current models of the solar system, which ensures that there can be no planets beyond Neptune.

The analysis is based on a sample of 13 objects and is expected in the coming months to make themselves known data with a larger sample. “If confirmed, our result can be truly revolutionary in astronomy,” concluded De la Fuente.
